I've been going through my phone photo collection and was interested at some of the things I'd taken photos of. I haven't posted for a little while now, so I figure this might show some insight into some of the minor things I normally wouldn't blog about. Some of you may think this is lame, but it's just for something different :P

My UNO hand while we were at Port Vincent for the Mozzie States last year. I didn't get dealt this particular hand but did proceed to pick it up when I got stuck partway through a round.

The product of one of my Christmas presents. We've actually owned a sandwich toaster (like images on right, but square rather than triangles) for a while at home, but I got given a nice sandwich press (which has a big smooth plate on the top and bottom rather than the moulded sections). For some odd reason flattened sandwiches taste much nicer :)

Product of one of my other Christmas presents. I was also given a frying pan which I've decided is a great way to make a Chicken Parmigiana on the weekend when my college accommodation doesn't provide meals. No chips due to lack of room on the plate, but not bad for around $7 all up.

Weather report in the local paper, halfway through the heatwave during January: "Very Hot", "Still Hot", "Stinking Hot". Click the image for a larger view.

How to wake up each morning. I've also recently purchased some black coffee-bags which get used on occasion. On that note, the Cinnamon Latte sachets seem to have been discontinued during last year - the two pictured are the last two I have left.

I think there's a special on. I went looking some small plastic containers at Big W a few weeks ago only to find the shelves mostly empty!

According to Plan

Isn't it nice when things go according to plan? Considering this was meant to be posted 2 weeks ago, I'm not doing a bad job :P

Not much ended up happening through December other than starting my summer work and Christmas. Fortunately my summer job lasted longer than expected so although I didn't have much spare time off after starting, it was nice to re-fill the bank balance slightly. The arrival of January marked the start of the year, and also (oddly enough) the start of a rather annoying 3-week stretch of hot weather (ignoring 15th-18th of Jan).

This hot weather also coincided with the Mosquito National Titles (held in Wallaroo this year) - somehow the two always seem to start in the exact same week as each-other, regardless of when in the month they actually occur. I didn't end up going but I heard the sand blown by the wind was extremely irritating for the spectators.

January continued without much of interest before turning into February and bringing the second half of the Mozzie State Titles (as continuation from Pt Vincent in late last year). A rather enjoyable weekend was had from our perspective, and I managed to get sunburned yet again (backs of legs and a little bit on the arms this time). Facilities were about the only complaint to be had (the blue tent was the clubhouse):

Uni started early this year due to one topic running from Feb till April rather than in Semester 1, so I moved back down to Adelaide on the 12th instead of 22nd so I had a fairly quiet week or so from then until O Week started. O Week Tuesday afternoon (and Wednesday morning) were taken up by a LAN organised within our engineering year level which provided a nice way to relax before the beginning of a new year.

On a different note, T7G is supported in the new 0.13.0 release of ScummVM :)

Has it really been 2 months?

It's hard to believe it's been nearly two months since the last post (you thought I'd forgotten about this place didn't you :P ). There have been a few small updates over the past few months which have been mostly backend related to make my job look after this site easier. Some are yet to be uploaded (such as a little bit of Ajax) while others have (such as the ability to manually close commenting on certain posts). Oddly enough, since blocking comments for one post which appeared to attract spam, no other spam has hit the site for close to a month. Not that I'm complaining at all.

I do plan to do several smaller posts over the next week or two which outline what's happened since my last proper post (see my December update) since I prefer smaller posts (both quicker to write and read) which are around the 2 paragraph mark. Not full-on blogging but not micro-blogging either :)

Do other people share the same views? Should I be writing long/detailed posts or are 2-paragraph updates fine?

Happy New Year and a late Merry Christmas to everyone :)

I've been home for a few weeks (and had these images uploaded even longer) but have just gotten around to writing anything - too many things I've been doing! Anyway, things on the water front are getting a little bit better. At the end of November, pipes and pumps were put in place to top the lake up a bit, although they don't seem to have done too much since then - perhaps a few inches although we've also had an inch of rain recently (w00t!) and cooler than average temperatures (w00t again! 40 degree days just suck).

The "fresh" water also appeared to attract a lot of the carp...

Sailing officially ended last weekend with rather blustery conditions. A stark contrast to the dead-calm conditions of most weekends prior I guess. I've also started (paid) work so don't have as much spare time during the week again, along with a few projects I wish to complete before Uni resumes next February so have plenty to do between now and then. Don't forget the Lake Bonney gallery contains all the photos we've taken while the water has been receding :)
