Turns out summer is getting nearer for us Aussies. Myself and a few friends went down to Glenelg after Uni yesterday afternoon, and I still managed to gain a minor pink tinge on my arms, despite maybe only getting one to two hours of sun during that time (albeit between 1:30 and 4). Fortunately nothing serious though :)
In other news, t7gre progress has been flying - almost all the puzzles now work! Except the AI for the Microscope puzzle. Which is rather complicated looking. There are also some other bugs relating to Stauf and Ego's dialogue, midi repeating and so on, but the bulk is almost done.

Just don't jump to conclusions - it's only a single JPEG from the trailer.

Oh, and Google released the beta for their "Chrome" web-browser as well today.
Meh.

What can I say? 3 hours knocking up the core code and slightly modifying my GJD/VDX readers in C# gives me this useful little tool - a GJD browser. Basically, it scans a directory (specified on first-run) which contains the GJD and RL files from The 7th Guest and provides an interface to access the VDXs within. These can then be played as normally seen in-game, audio or video played separate, or even step through each frame individually - should come in useful when trying to get some of the puzzles working when I can see how the separate VDX frames start - and then work out how they should mix together.
Oh, and my last exam went well enough so at least that's done with for another semester. Or two - I've got work placement all this semester coming up so no exams at the end of the year. Only two x-thousand word reports and a seminar to present about it or something like that... *sigh*

Closing in on a month from the last blog post and I still can't think of anything worthwhile to write, especially if you exclude the boring day-to-day stuff. Guess I'll just have to go on that anyway.
Uni-related, things were fairly busy starting around 3 weeks ago up until last weekend. Ultimately, the steady stream of work meant things got left to the last minute. This, in turn, meant items due later in the week didn't get started until later in the week. Such a vicious circle, but we got there in the end. Two of my subjects had mid-semester and end-of-semester tests which didn't go too badly, so I've only got 2 exams this year, albeit one on a Saturday afternoon.
Currently I'm at home for swotvac and plan to head down to the lake at some point to check out the water levels - I've heard they haven't dropped too much now that the cooler weather is here, but it'll still be good to check it out first hand. Also this week, I had my room rearranged on me. On the plus side, the new layout is pretty good, and my room's now fairly clean (although that's probably because the hallway is still half filled with bits and pieces).
As for the T7G project I'm working on, not much has happened here either. Both Spookypeanut and myself haven't done a lot although jvprat has been slowing working on implementing a few things to the ScummVM plugin including initial music support and preliminary support for the other Groovie games. One of the first things I plan to do when I get the chance to fiddle with the C# implementation to move from multi-threading back to single-threading as it eliminates some of the occasional read/write access hazards I've been experiencing.
Finally, to wrap up this post I've also just finished reformatting my server with a clean install of Ubuntu 8.04 which is now happily sitting out connected to the TV again :)

Pretty strange title, but the front-door puzzle in T7G is working, both logically and graphically!
T7G spider puzzle in action
Probably not what I should be doing with uni et al, but I'm happy to finally get what should have been trivial done :D
Not really looking forward to the cake puzzle just yet though (and before anyone asks - no release time yet although you're more than welcome to obtain a copy of the code).
